 Iris ISO, a new anti-aging active ingredient from Silab, is rich in isoflavones from iris (Iris florentina) to help fight the visible signs of aging.

Through its targeted action on three compartments of the skin, Iris ISO:

  • prevents atrophy of the epidermis by limiting inflammation and stimulating cell renewal;
  • prevents attenuation of the dermal-epidermal junction (DEJ) by boosting the synthesis of its components and improving its organization; and
  • reduces alterations of the dermal matrix by maintaining the activity of fibroblasts and decreasing glycation.
With Iris ISO, the barrier function is strengthened, skin tone is preserved and wrinkles fade, according to Silab. Therefore, the ingredient is said to provide a comprehensive solution for mature skin and can be incorporated in all anti-aging products.

To study the material’s impact on the epidermis, at 0.25%, Iris ISO significantly increases the expression of transglutaminase 1 by 246%, of kallikrein 7 by 293% and of kallikrein 5 by 149%. Iris ISO therefore stimulates renewal of the stratum corneum and improves cohesion of the skin, according to Silab. Furthermore, Iris ISO significantly boosts, by 16%, the formation of the collagen I network, according the results of Silab’s study.
